| Eligibility | U.S. citizen (or national, or a person owing allegiance to the U.S.); at least 21 years old at application and referred before 40th birthday (exceptions for current or prior federal law enforcement service); a valid REAL ID-compliant driver's licence; able to obtain and hold a Top Secret clearance and to pass a drug test, credit check, polygraph, medical examination and background investigation, and the Applicant Physical Abilities Test (push-ups, sit-ups, Illinois Agility Run, 1.5-mile run). For GL-07: a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (GPA 3.0 or higher, upper third of class, or honor society membership), or one full year of graduate-level education, or one year of specialized experience at GL-05 level; GL-09 and GS-11 require a master's or doctorate or equivalent specialized experience. Must complete 13 weeks of training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (Glynco, GA) and 18 weeks at the James J. Rowley Training Center (Laurel, MD), sign a mobility agreement to accept assignments anywhere in the United States and overseas, and be able to carry and use a firearm. |
